The Trinidad and Tobago Mixed Martial Arts Federation successfully hosted the 2024 National Youth and Senior MMA Championships on June 15 at the Easter Regional Indoor Sporting Complex in Tacarigua.
In collaboration with the Ruff N Tuff Caribbean MMA League, the event attracted healthy participation across Junior, Youth, and Senior categories and served as a qualifier for the upcoming 2024 IMMAF Pan American Championship in Mexico in August.
The event crowned 16 new national champions and was graced by the presence of Mr. David Roberts, Permanent Secretary from the Ministry of Sport and Youth Affairs, who delivered remarks encouraging the Federation and athletes to continue advancing in the sport.
In addition to local athletes, participants from Grenada and Guyana were invited to provide a platform for preparation for the upcoming Pan-American games.
The event marked a major milestone in the growth of MMA in Trinidad and Tobago. The Federation’s decision to invite athletes from other nations highlighted the collaborative efforts of IMMAF national federations to elevate the sport in their respective regions.
Athletes who qualified for the Pan American Championships will now begin preparations for the event, which is scheduled to take place in Monterrey, Mexico, from August 31 to September 7.
