After two difficult years of results in ONE Championship, multi-sport star Danial Williams’ unquenchable grit and determination saw him triumphantly return to the win column this past weekend at ONE Fight Night 25.
Williams carved out a victory in his catchweight MMA matchup with Banma Duoji at the October 5 event at the iconic Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.
The unanimous decision win was Williams’ first since summer 2022, when he made it three in a row against Chinese powerhouse Zelang Zhaxi.
Following that, he went on an unfortunate skid, falling to Jeremy Miado in MMA, failing in his challenge of flyweight kickboxing king Superlek Kiatmoo9’s and former strawweight kickboxing titleholder Jonathan Di Bella’s world titles, and succumbing to Lito Adiwang, again in MMA.
With that string of bad results behind him, the Thai-Aussie standout was unsurprisingly delighted to find success against Douji.
“I just want to say thank you so much for the support,” Williams said on Instagram.
“Finally got the win, it’s been a long time coming. I knew I just had to really change my style, I just wanted to go in there in MMA, but I really had to be patient. Thank you to everyone who helped me get here.”
Williams has built a reputation as a man who is willing to take on any challenge.
“Mini T” has built a reputation for being willing to take on any challenge. His ONE Championship record features fights against some of the biggest stars in the promotion – across multiple disciplines.
And despite him registering his first win in five fights under MMA rules, the always entertaining Williams has no plans to stick to one sport going forward.
The 31-year-old is ready to jump back into the striking realm, and he’s looking for a firefight.
“It’s a different style, but I really want a Muay Thai fight next. I haven’t had one in a while, I want to stand and trade with someone, probably get uglier than this,” he said via Instagram.
“But, you know, I’m always going to put on a show, and I just want to put on that excitement.”
