On this week’s episode of The RDX Sports Podcast with Simon Head, I caught up with one of the most experienced veterans on the European MMA scene, Alex Lohore, a fighter who has spent his career fighting under the flags of three nations: France, Ivory Coast and Great Britain.
Alex was born in Paris of Ivorian heritage, but moved to the UK and has lived and trained in London for several years. During his 35-fight professional MMA career he has captured championships in four different organisations, and has challenged for world championship gold under the Cage Warriors and Oktagon MMA banners.
Now a leading contender in BRAVE Combat Federation’s 175-pound super-welterweight division, the 34-year-old is arguably in the best position of his career and, two fights into his tenure with the Bahrain-based promotion, he already has a pair of first-round finishes to his name, including an 80-second knockout of former champion Marcin Bandel on his promotional debut.
On this week’s show, I had an in-depth chat with Alex about his career, his unique position as a French fighter who has struggled to find fan support in his career, and his hopes for his career in BRAVE Combat Federation. It’s a revealing chat with one of the most interesting characters in European MMA – and it was conducted while Alex was enjoying some peri-peri chicken in his local Nando’s!
