Artem Lobov is a well-known buddy to Conor McGregor and that’s why the latter praised BKFC 5 bout between Artem Lobov and Jason Knight. McGregor also demanded a match between Artem Lobov and Paulie Malignaggi. The Irish superstar took to Twitter to praise Lobov’s bare-knuckle fight against Jason Knight from BKFC 5.
The Russian mixed martial artist, Lobov (13-15-1, 1 NC) ended his UFC run with a 2-5 record earlier this year. BKFC had contracted him contracted to a three-fight deal with a special clause that allowed Lobov to compete in MMA too.
Artem Lobov made his BKFC 5 debut against fellow UFC veteran Jason Knight on April 6. He stood tall with a decision win after a rather bloody and battered fight. Lobov showed the damage done on social media later on.
Meanwhile, McGregor had praise for both the men next day. He also took to social media where he urged the need for a fight between Paulie Malignaggi and Artem Lobov. Malignaggi had a heated confrontation with Lobov in the lead up to the event.
McGregor said,
“What an animal! Proud of you, (Artem)! Amazing fight Paulie’s nice and quiet all of a sudden and that’s not like him haha We want a new contract for (Lobov) for this next bout! It has been earned and now deserved! What a great showing (Jason). Big respect!”
Knight reciprocated respect and praise to both men.
Malignaggi worked with McGregor while prepping for his “Money Fight” boxing match with Floyd Mayweather. He later left McGregor over a dispute in which McGregor claimed to knock Malignaggi down during a sparring session.
McGregor released a series of tweets showing photos of the sparring session in question prior to his Twitter tirade against Khabib Nurmagomedov and his wife back on April 2.
