The latest episode of the RDX Sports Podcast with Simon Head is now live, as I get behind the mic to talk fights on our brand new show.
On this week’s episode of The RDX Sports Podcast, I catch up with the voice of Cage Warriors, Brad Wharton, ahead of a busy stretch for the play-by-play commentator, with TWO events taking place in the space of six days – Cage Warriors 174 in London on July 20, then Cage Warriors 175 in Manchester on July 25.
The London show will also feature Cage Warriors’ new PrizeFighter tournament, a one-night bantamweight tournament that will see the winner pocket $50,000 and earn themselves a shot at the reigning Cage Warriors bantamweight champion Liam Gittins later this year.
Brad lifted the lid on how PrizeFighter came to fruition, and regaled us with some great stories from his time calling fights for the top European MMA promotion. He also took us back to the days of the pandemic, when Cage Warriors received official approval from the UK government to host behind-closed-doors event during the national lockdown, as Manchester’s BEC Arena and London’s York Hall became the home to live MMA in the UK during the COVID-19 pandemic. Brad also shared some of his favourite moments from calling fights over the years.
It’s a great listen, with one of the most respected voices in the sport on this side of the pond, and you can check the video version of the pod via the YouTube player above. You can also subscribe to get the show in audio form on Spotify.
