Seventeen of the 18 fighters on the scale successfully made weight ahead of Cage Warriors 173 in San Diego, California, on Thursday.
The event, which takes place at the Sycuan Resort and Casino on Friday night, features a featherweight bout in the main event, as former UFC flyweight title challenger Wilson Reis takes on fellow UFC vet Bruno Souza, while fellow 145-pound contenders Roberto Hernandez and Javier Garcia provide co-main support.
They are joined on the main card by two more featherweight matchups, with Damon Wilson facing Brandon Carrillo, and Xavier Vines taking on Diego Bigelow, while the main card opens with a bantamweight matchup between James Settle and Magomed Bayduev.
All eight featherweights made weight without issue, but Bayduev was unable to hit the bantamweight limit of 136 pounds, managing no better than 138 pounds on the scale. The California State Athletic Commission agreed that the bout with James Settle could continue as planned, providing Bayduev weighed no more than 150 pounds at a fight day weigh-in. Bayduev will also be fined a percentage of his fight purse.
The rest of the card weighed in without any further issues, though one fighter was forced off the card when Chace Eskam was not cleared to compete by the commission. His place on the card will be taken by Chris Owen, who will make his professional debut against Ilias Faquiri in the opening bout of the night, with the pair competing in a 198-pound catchweight contest.
