Championship gold will be on the line in the main event of CFFC 137 as Cage Fury Fighting Championships returns to their regular home of the 2300 Arena in Philadelphia for their latest fight card on Friday, October 18.
The promotion, which has produced a host of fighters that have gone on to enjoy success in the UFC, including Aljamain Sterling and Paul Felder, will look to crown a new featherweight champion during the event, as undefeated contender Anthony Dilemme takes on Beau Samaniego for the vacant 145-pound title.
Dilemme has been a staple of the Cage Fury promotion, and has won each of his five fights with the organisation. Now 6-0 as a pro, the Longo and Weidman MMA prospect will look to capture a belt when he faces Gilbert Grappling contender Samaniego, who arrives in Philly with a 6-1 record that includes a 3-1 run in CFFC.
“It seems every event we have at 2300 Arena is filled with incredible fights from top to bottom, and this main event is sure to bring an exciting close to another amazing night of fast-paced, high-quality competition at CFFC 137,” said CFFC CEO Rob Haydak.
“Beau Samaniego is trying to follow in the footsteps of his teammate and former CFFC champ Jose Perez, but now he’s facing the undefeated Anthony Dilemme, who has won five straight fights in the CFFC cage.
“This is going to be a spectacular night, so get your tickets early, because the 2300 Arena is always packed with fans looking to watch the future superstars of MMA make their claims for a UFC call.”
Also set for action in Philadelphia are Christian McAuley and Maxime Soucy, who will face off in a 140-pound catchweight contest, while former CFFC lightweight title challenger Armando Gjetja faces off against two-time UFC veteran Collin Anglin. Welterweights will also feature on the card, with 20-year-old 1-0 prospect Busurman Zhumagul faes promotional newcomer Andrew Smith, who will make his professional debut at the event.
Additionally, flyweight prospect Ryan Burgos, CFFC veteran Eric Nolan, former CFFC NextGen amateur featherweight champ Darwin Pena and ex-CFFC NextGen amateur lightweight king Jose Rodriguez are all set to feature on the card, with the two former amateur champions both set to make their professional debuts at the event.
CFFC 137 will stream live on UFC Fight Pass, with WWE superstar and two-time UFC veteran CM Punk calling the action alongside longtime MMA journalist and broadcaster John Morgan.
