Conor McGregor and Tony Ferguson are perhaps the best lightweight fighters in the world. Unfortunately, both are out of action with an unclear future.
Conor McGregor is earning millions outside the ring through his various ventures. He doesn’t seem to be too pushed to fight again for a living. Tony Ferguson, on the other hand, is dealing with some personal problems that have made his status uncertain. Yet there is hardly a fight fan who doesn’t want to see both fight again.
Thanks to the rebirth of interim champion Dustin Poirier, the UFC 155-pound class is more exciting than ever. However, the division is still operating in absence of two of its biggest stars. Those stars are Conor McGregor and Tony Ferguson, ranked No. 2 and No. 3, respectively.
Speaking at the UFC Fort Lauderdale press conference on Saturday night, Dana White provided updates on both lightweight stars. White said that McGregor was supposed to meet him in Miami. Instead, he will now meet him in Los Angeles to discuss the former lightweight and featherweight champ’s fighting future.
Dana White will sit down with McGregor at some point in the near future to discuss the latter’s return to the octagon. White said,
“I was supposed to meet with (McGregor) down here; we’re going to meet in L.A. instead.”
Hopefully this meeting would provide some clarity about the Irishman’s fighting future. However, White was not very optimistic when it came to Ferguson’s comeback,
“As far as I know right now, Tony’s still not ready to go, or I would be trying to book him.”
What do you think the future holds for Tony Ferguson and Conor McGregor?
