Two champions retained their titles at UFC 311 as Islam Makhachev and Merab Dvalishvili defended their belts at Intuit Dome in LA, while Jiri Prochazka and Jamahal Hill tore the house down with a cracker of a light heavyweight scrap.
The UFC’s first pay-per-view event of 2025 delivered a superb night of fights as the state-of-the-art home of the LA Clippers saw the main card deliver a string of entertaining bouts.
Undisputed UFC lightweight champion Makhachev’s first-round submission of short-notice replacement Renato Moicano closed the show to cement his case as the UFC’s number-one pound-for-pound fighter, but it was far from the only highlight on a great night of fights.
The co-main saw bantamweight champ Dvalishvili produce a stirring comeback to outpoint the previously unbeaten Umar Nurmagomedov and retain his title in his first championship defence, while Czech fan-favourite Prochazka prevailed over Jamahal Hill in their battle of former light heavyweight champions.
The night also saw big wins for Brazilian heavyweight contender Jailton Almeida and Dutch middleweight Reinier De Ridder, whose impressive finish of Octagon vet Kevin Holland will set him on a path towards the 185-pound division’s elite in the coming months.
