The undefeated Floyd Mayweather Jr. and the eight-division champion Manny Pacquiao have released the official poster for the “Fight of the Century” on May 2 at the MGM Grand, Las Vegas. The bout will become one of the highest grossing boxing events in the history with estimates already reaching $300 million in pure revenue.
The bout will be a pay-per-view event which will be aired by Showtime and HBO in the United States. For broadcast in the Great Britain, Sky Network has successfully won the rights to telecast the much-awaited fight. The bout will not only bring a huge payday for both fighters, although the lion’s share will be pocketed by Mayweather Jr.
The price tag for the PPV of the match is expected to be higher than normal. The possibility that the ticket prices may break records is quite true. Tickets for live events are projected to bring in a revenue of $74 million, which is almost quadruple of the highest-record in boxing in the past.
Mayweather and Pacquiao will lock their horns in the ring almost 40 days from now. The official poster features impressive photos of both the fighters with their flawless bodies. The poster also mentions the date and time for the super-bout along with the names of the entities involved in arranging and sponsoring the event including Mayweather Promotions, Showtime MGM Grand, Tecate, Corona and HBO.
The poster was released by Bob Arum, the official promoter for Pacquiao who called it ‘crazy, yet an amazing moment’. The ringside seats for the Mayweather and Pacquiao faceoff were projected to be sold for $5000 per seat; however, as the date of the bout draws closer, the price has risen to $10,000.
