Two fighters missed weight ahead of BRAVE CF 84 in China but the fight card remains intact with six YFU vs BRAVE CF plus a tremendous main event
The stage is set for BRAVE Combat Federation’s debut event in China as the fighters weighed in and faced off ahead of BRAVE CF 84, scheduled for August 9.
Bidzina Gavashelishvili and Erasyl Shukataev both made weight after mutually agreeing to change their main event to a Catchweight bout at 59.2kg. Gavashelishvili weighed in exactly at 59.2kg, while Shukataev came in at 59.10kg.
For the co-main event, which headlines the Team YFU vs. Team BRAVE CF tournament, Qinghe Zhang and Brice Picaud also made weight within the 62.5kg Catchweight limit. Zhang weighed 62.25kg, and Picaud, returning to BRAVE CF after a break, weighed in at 62.5kg. During their staredown, both men were forehead to forehead before they loosened the tension by smiling and hugging each other.
BRAVE CF veteran Borislav Nikolic came in at 61.35kg for his Bantamweight fight against Eqiyuebu, who weighed in at 61.45kg. Both fighters were within the limit.
However, Arab MMA legend Izzeddine Al Derbani and former interim title contender Olzhas Eskaraev missed weight. Al Derbani weighed in at 68.25kg, exceeding the 66.2kg Featherweight limit, but his opponent, Chinese veteran Maimaitituoheti, who weighed in at 66kg, agreed to proceed with the fight.
Eskaraev weighed in at 71.6kg, above the 70.8kg Lightweight limit, while his opponent, Zehao Zhang, came in at 70.5kg. As a result, both Al Derbani and Eskaraev will forfeit a percentage of their purse to their opponents.
Elsewhere on the card, Yang Weiqiang and Mohamed Alsameea both weighed in at 57.1kg and 57.05kg respectively. Peng Zhengwen and Aivaz Aidinov also successfully made weight for their Catchweight fight, which will open the event.
BRAVE CF 84, held in association with WLF(YFU), marks the organization’s fourth event of the year, following outings in Slovenia, Mauritius, and the Netherlands. With this event, BRAVE CF extends its record as the most hosted MMA organization, with China becoming the 33rd country to host a BRAVE CF event.
