Gennady Golovkin Diet Plan
Golovkin loves to maintain a devilish pace during training sessions and works out like an absolute machine to build himself up for his bouts. He follows a strict fitness routine and a healthy diet to stay in shape. Although, he hasn’t revealed much about his diet, other than saying that he eats pretty much what he wants but stays away from sugars, fats and sodas while he is in training.
We thought this would be a good opportunity to lay out a diet plan that someone like Gennady Golovkin should follow while in training camp.
For a power boxer such as Golovkin, eating 5 times a day is necessary. So a meal plan should look like this:
Breakfast
- Start with a small bowl of oatmeal
- 2-3 boiled eggs
- 2 whole wheat bread slices
- Avoid fruit juices
- Have some black coffee, no cream or sugar
Second Breakfast
- Grilled Chicken or fish
- A small plate of pasta
Lunch
- Grilled or smokes chicken or turkey breast
- Half a cup of brown rice
Second Lunch
- Some fruit or vegetables
- Glass of protein shake
Dinner
This will be an important meal because your muscles will be exhausted after the training. You will need carbs and protein.
- Salmon or chicken or grilled steak
- Side of salad
During the day you have to stay from unnecessary sugar and make sure that you get plenty of water. More carbs can be added to the diet if the training is more intense.
Gennady Golovkin may not be following that exact same diet, but he is certainly eating something similar while he trains to take on Canelo Alvarez.
