Two of the best kickboxers on the planet will face off in a battle of champions in the main event of GLORY 96 in Rotterdam, Netherlands.
October 12 will see a superfight between GLORY welterweight champion Chico Kwasi and GLORY lightweight champ Tyjani Beztati, with Kwasi’s welterweight title on the line.
The pair will do battle in the headline matchup at the RTM Stage, with Kwasi (43-5, 23 KO) looking to register his first title defence with victory over fellow world champion Beztati (27-4, 9 KO).
Kwasi captured the title with a resounding stoppage win over former champion Endy Semeleer at GLORY 91. The 26-year-old is undefeated under the GLORY banner, with four big wins to his name as he surged into title contention before dethroning the long-reigning champion.
Meanwhile, in the lightweight division, Beztati has continued a reign of dominance over the division as one of the most decorated champions in GLORY history. While Beztati is the same age as Kwasi, his experience in the GLORY ring far outstrips that of the welterweight champion, with Betati’s promotional debut coming way back at GLORY 36 in 2016, when he was a teenage kickboxing prodigy.
His performances earned him the nickname of “The Wonderboy,” as Beztati quickly rose up the ranks and faced legendary cham,pions Sitthichai and Marat Grigorian. He eventually captured GLORY championship gold at GLORY 78 in 2021, and has registered five title defenses in a dominant stretch of form at the top of the division.
Now Beztati has turned his attention to the welterweight division, and delivered a statement of intent with a win over former champion Semeleer at GLORY 93 to position himself for a shot at Kwasi in Rotterdam on October 12.
Either Kwasi will cement his status as the king of the welterweights by turning back the challenge of a long-reigning champion, or Beztati will add another layer to his greatness by capturing a GLORY world title in a second weight class and join Alex Pereira and Robin van Roosmalen as only the third two-division champion in GLORY history.
