It’s hard to find friends in a sport among the elite in Muay Thai, but ONE flyweight Muay Thai world champion Superlek Kiatmoo9 and British legend Liam Harrison share a bond through training.
The striking standouts will feature prominently at ONE 168: Denver on Saturday, September 7, inside Denver, Colorado’s Ball Arena, with both taking on huge assignments at the thrilling show.
Superlek challenges two-sport king Jonathan Haggerty for the ONE bantamweight Muay Thai world title, and Harrison makes his return from a two-year layoff to take on Seksan Or Kwamuang in a battle of veterans.
While the flyweight kickboxing king is busy with his own preparations, he’s also full of enthusiasm for “Hitman’s” first bout in over two years. The Brit suffered a debilitating knee injury at the hands of Nong-O in August 2022 at ONE on Prime Video 1, so Superlek is very happy to see his friend back in action.
“I’m very excited for his return. I’m happy for him that he’s recovered. I believe so many fans are waiting to watch him. I’m looking forward to seeing him in action,” he said.
“He’s a great athlete and such an entertainer. He makes any fight exciting.”
Though Superlek and Harrison have different goals at ONE 168: Denver, they share a common adversary overall.
Haggerty has traded barbs with “Hitman” since claiming the world title at ONE Fight Night 9 in April 2023. So naturally, he will be cheering for Superlek in September.
The ONE flyweight kickboxing world champion is aware of this, and he has thought about capitalizing on it when he begins preparation for his show at two-sport glory.
“We were training in the same gym for a few months. He’s a very nice person. I’ve learned a lot from watching him during training, and I’m looking forward to learning more,” Superlek said.
“I may join his fight camp before Denver. Liam has invited me to train with him and mentioned that he’s rooting for me to win against Haggerty.”
