I return with my Saturday Night Takeaways as I recap the action from UFC 308 and assess the impact of each of the big main card fights that took place at Etihad Arena, Abu Dhabi.
In the night’s main event, Ilia Topuria sensationally knocked out Max Holloway in the third round to retain his featherweight title and become the first man to stop “Blessed” with strikes, while in the co-main event, Khamzat Chimaev dominated, then submitted, former middleweight champion Robert Whittaker in a huge performance to put himself right in the title conversation at 185 pounds.
There was an important win for former title challenger Magomed Ankalaev, who looks to have punched his ticket to a second title shot in the light heavyweight division. And England’s Lerone Murphy extended his undefeated record as he claimed his biggest win to date with a hard-earned decision victory over Dan Ige.
There was also a highlight-reel knockout from Shara “Bullet” Magomedov, who immediately set his sights on a fight with former middleweight champion Israel Adesanya.
It was a packed night of action, and I unpack all of the big storylines from the event in my Saturday Night Takeaways from UFC 308.
