Khabib Nurmagomedov, Jon Jones, Georges St. Pierre, and many other professional fighters are recognisable globally. Pro fighters in general and UFC fighters in particular are considered the pinnacle of success in mixed martial arts. However, these fighters don’t just pop out of nowhere.
The journey to professional superstardom is a long, twisty journey. And nearly every professional fighter starts off this journey with their amateur career. Simply put, amateur mixed martial arts are the cornerstone of the sport on which every other aspect (including professional MMA) is based.
IMMAF – Nurturing Amateur Mixed Martial Arts
While there is no shortage of brands and organisations that want to sponsor a well-known professional fighter, fewer tend to be involved in the start of any fighter’s career. At amateur levels, there is a smaller audience base, smaller purses, and smaller events.
Yet, out of amateur mixed martial arts emerge those select few that climb to the top of the mountain, serving as inspiration outside the octagon as well as in it. This is exactly the part of a fighter’s journey that the International Mixed Martial Arts Federation (IMMAF) aims to nurture.
IMMAF is an international organisation with member bodies across the globe. The organisation is committed to the growth of mixed martial arts in each member country, such as the championship currently happening in Namibia. What IMMAF does is offer a forum for athletes to prove their mettle, allow for competitive amateur fighting, and most importantly: offer amateur athletes an opportunity to hone their skills using equipment and gear that conforms to international safety standards.
RDX and IMMAF – Crusading for the Future of MMA
At RDX Sports, we don’t manufacture and sell combat sports equipment just for revenue. Our most important motivator and shared value system with IMMAF is simply a love for combat sports. Like any enthusiast, we wish to see MMA rise to become the predominant combat sport in the world. And, like any diehard fan, we want to see athletes realise their potential in the safest ways possible.
Both of these are key value drivers in the relationship between RDX and IMMAF Sports. Through this partnership, we are working on promoting and marketing IMMAF events across the globe, alongside our IMMAF-approved equipment and gear that ensures fighter safety at these events.
We are proud to be working closely with IMMAF on the grassroots level across countries and continents, nurturing the next generation of mixed martial artists. We are also honoured to be associated with amateur mixed martial artists everywhere, making their way to the pros and blazing a trail for the next generation of fighters.
IMMAF and its member organisations are among those responsible for each new batch of fighters entering the global MMA arena, many of whom go on to become professional superstars.
