Ever since ONE lightweight kickboxing world champion Alexis Nicolas won the coveted crown by defeating former two-sport king Regian Eersel, he’s been dreaming of celebrating his reign at a live ONE Championship event in his homeland of France.
The unbeaten star will meet Eersel in a pivotal rematch for the lightweight kickboxing gold in the main event of ONE Fight Night 25 on Saturday, 5th October, inside Bangkok, Thailand’s Lumpinee Stadium, and he’s got big plans if he goes 2-0 against the Surinamese superstar.
Nicolas made history by becoming the first-ever Frenchman to win a ONE World Title at ONE Fight Night 21 this past April. Though the achievement is huge, it was only the beginning as far as he is concerned.
“My dream is to bring ONE Championship to France. To bring ONE Championship to France, it’s a big dream for me, and if I can put it on my shoulders, I want to,” Nicolas said.
“I have to become a superstar in France and in all the world. Now, I am in France, but I want to do the same thing in Thailand, all over the world, in the U.S.”
The Mahmoudi Gym standout has added two wins to his slate since joining the world’s largest martial arts organization in January this year. Many would think a fighter would be satisfied with a World Title and a 24-0 professional slate, but Nicolas is built differently.
He wants to establish himself as the greatest striker in kickboxing history, and that requires more of everything he has already accomplished. Luckily for fans of martial arts, the 26-year-old is more than prepared to put in the work.
“A lot of fights, a lot of winning, a lot of KOs, and, of course, a lot of money because I need to build my empire to make my family and me safe. I want to become a superstar. I want to be appreciated by ONE Championship fans,” Nicolas stated.
“I just want to fight. Like, if I can fight every three months, I’ll fight every three months. If I can fight more, I’m ready. Kickboxing is my life, so I don’t want to just be a superstar. I want to be a super fighter.”
