Johan Estupinan fights with his heart on his sleeve, and he fears no man – that much has been evident since his arrival in ONE Championship in May 2024.
The undefeated Colombian’s forward-pressing, heavy-hitting fight style has seen him accumulate a staggering 26-0 career slate, and it’s brought him four straight wins, with three knockouts, in the world’s largest martial arts organization thus far.
Estupinan is set to meet Johan Ghazali in a flyweight Muay Thai brawl this Friday, January 24, at ONE 170, inside Bangkok, Thailand’s sold-out Impact Arena, where he’ll be looking to fight fire with fire against the Malaysian-American phenom and continue his run of dominance.
“‘Jojo’ is well known, and the world loves him. That’s good for me because more people will know me after I defeat him. It’ll be like two bombs crashing and exploding. We will put on a great show,” he said.
“He knows that I’m the best fighter in the world and he knows that I’m going to be the toughest opponent he’s ever faced. I encourage him to train hard because he’s going up against someone that’s not afraid of anything and is always going for the win.
“I’ve never lost, and I’ll never lose because I don’t have a loser’s mindset. We’ll see each other on the 24th of January. I want us to hit each other from the start of the first round.”
ONE 170 may be the first time Estupinan has met “Jojo” in action, but he has faced off against the Ghazali fighting family once before. Four years ago, he overcame Elias, Johan’s older brother, by decision in the IFMA Muay Thai World Championships.
Estupinan was happy with that win, but he remains disappointed he didn’t finish the bout in highlight-reel fashion. The 22-year-old is determined to end proceedings early this Friday, but he’d also be fine going into deep waters with the younger Ghazali.
“I defeated Jojo’s brother in 2021 in the best way possible. I was explosive and won all rounds. The only thing missing was a knockout. I know that I’ll do the same thing against ‘Jojo’ but it’ll be much better because I’m going to knock him out,” he asserted.
“I’ll be looking for the knockout in the first round. If he’s able to withstand my power, I’ll be ready for all three rounds.”
