The PFL’s first Super Fight pay-per-view event has added another title fight to its lineup.
PFL: Battle of the Giants will be headlined by the heavyweight title clash between Francis Ngannou and Renan Ferreira, with the winner set to be crowned the inaugural PFL Super Fights heavyweight champion, while the women’s featherweight champion will be crowned in the co-main event, as Cris Cyborg takes on Larissa Pacheco.
Now a third title fight has been added to the slate, with the announcement that Bellator middleweight champion Johnny Eblen will put his title on the line against former title challenger Fabian Edwards in a championship rematch.
Eblen took the win in their first meeting as he retained his title in Dublin at Bellator 299 with a third-round TKO finish. But Edwards looked competitive early in the fight, and will be keen to set the record straight, and even the scores between the pair, with victory over “Johnny Pressure” in the rematch.
Since the first meeting, Eblen defeated PFL light heavyweight champion Impa Kasanganay at the PFL Champs vs. Bellator Champs event, while Edwards claimed a unanimous decision victory over Canadian contender Aaron Jeffery at Bellator Champions Series: Belfast in March. Now Eblen and Edwards are set to renew their rivalry next month with championship gold on the line once again.
The pair will do battle at the Mayadeen in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on Saturday, October 19 on a card that also features a huge lightweight clash between former Cage Warriors featherweight champion Paul Hughes and former Bellator featherweight champion AJ McKee.
