WBA lightweight champion Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis has been indicted by a grand jury on 14 separate counts of traffic violations.
A Baltimore native, 26-year-old Davis was involved in a car crash in the early morning of Nov 5, 2020, on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard after he was returning from his birthday celebration at a downtown club.
According to the reports, witnesses and surveillance footage, Davis, in his Lamborghini Urus SUV crashed through a red light, slamming Toyota Solara at around 2.AM on November 5 of 2020. The Toyota received serious damage and one of the four passengers in it suffered “suspected serious injury,” while other two passengers were suspected to have suffered “minor injuries.” Davis and his two passengers are reported to have fled the scene on foot.
Davis is expected to return to the ring this spring or summer but if he is convicted on all 14 charges, he could face a sentence of up to seven years and 55 days in prison.
