Khabib Nurmagomedov is not really interested in taking the Nevada State Athletic Commission’s offer.
Recently, the NSAC fined Khabib Nurmagomedov $500,000. They also suspended him for nine months for taking part in post-fight brawl in UFC 229. Last week, the commission decided to offer the UFC lightweight champion a reduction in his ban. The catch is Nurmagomedov would have to take part in an anti-bullying public service.
‘The Eagle’ did not show interest in the proposal though it came from Nurmagomedov’s legal team. Nurmagomedov’s stance is to wait for the year while his teammates, Zubaira Tukhugov and Abubakar Nurmagomedov serve their bans.
Nurmagomedov has taken issue with the NSAC’s harsh stance on the fight. He also pointed out that Nevada as a state does not have a good reputation. Ultimately, Khabib Nurmagomedov blatantly rejected the offer to reduce his ban with public service.
“[The NSAC] said to take part in a social campaign… the state of Nevada is a place where they allow drugs, prostitution and gambling”
“Let them work on themselves and their own behavior. There were fighters who didn’t fight for two years and didn’t have their belts taken for a year and a half.
“I’m ready to fight, they were the ones who banned me.”
However, Khabib Nurmagomedov’s manager, Ali Abdelaziz came forward in the aftermath. He made it clear to the public that his client is not interested to compete in Las Vegas anymore. He also added that,
Khabib Nurmagomedov will pay for both his teammates’ fines. Now the champ has to pay a grand total of $750000 for an altercation that was so easily avoidable.
