The final ONE Championship card of 2024 has had another blistering matchup added to its lineup.
ONE Friday Fights 92: Sitthichai vs. Shadow will feature a 159-pound catchweight kickboxing collision between all-time great Marat Grigorian and surging star Abdelali Zahidi when it goes down inside Bangkok, Thailand’s Lumpinee Stadium on Friday, 20th December.
Grigorian is one of the most decorated strikers to ever grace ONE. The #2-ranked featherweight kickboxing contender is a three-time world title challenger in the division, and he’s still in pursuit of the gold.
A veteran of over 80 fights, the Armenian has utilised his skill set to its fullest in the world’s largest martial arts organization.
Grigorian has scored four wins in ONE against some of the best strikers in the world and has knockout wins over Andy Souwer and Sitthichai Sitsongpeenong to his name.
Though he has a couple of setbacks on his promotional slate, they came against striking royalty in the form of reigning featherweight kickboxing kingpin Chingiz Allazov and ONE interim featherweight kickboxing world champion Superbon.
The 33-year-old lost out to the latter by decision when they clashed for the interim featherweight kickboxing crown at ONE Friday Fights 58 this past April, so he’ll be out to end the year on a high note when he meets Zahidi on 20th December.
But “Black Diamond” has got off to a great start in ONE Championship, and he’ll view his bout with Grigorian at ONE Friday Fights 92 as the perfect opportunity to announce himself to the upper echelon.
Zahidi arrived in stunning fashion at ONE Friday Fights 88 last month. He put on a show against Tun Min Aung before finishing the Myanmar star with a sensational head kick in the second round.
Grigorian will represent a significant step up in competition for him, but the 25-year-old’s momentum, combined with his punching power, will give him all the confidence he needs to cause a major shakeup in ONE Championship’s kickboxing ranks.
