Martyn Ford is a renowned bodybuilder, fitness model and actor who recently made appearances in Accident Man and Kingsman: The Golden Circle.
In his youth, Ford was a talented cricket player who aspired to play professionally. Injury struck him before his career could take off and a subsequent case of glandular fever shelved him for twelve months, which put an end to any cricket career aspirations. Any ordinary person might have given up an athletic career after, but Ford found a niche sport that he was built to excel at – bodybuilding.
Ford committed himself to becoming a professional bodybuilder, working day in and day out to push his limits and build himself bigger and better than anyone before him. He ate anywhere between 4,500–8,000 calories a day to ensure maximum muscle retention and low body fat percentage. His success and natural charisma saw him segue into movies, where he plays his height and build to his advantage as an intimidating opposing force, built for destruction.
Recently, Ford suffered from a severe stomach ailment that developed into a life-threatening ordeal that could’ve ended badly. When his condition worsened, he was forced to undergo surgery. As he lay on death’s bed, struggling to recover, Ford had an epiphany.
He was a giant that had conquered one world, and he had an urgent desire to conquer the next – the world’s toughest sport, MMA. It is a testament to Ford’s perseverance and ambition that his newfound goal pushed him to make a full recovery. With his work ethic, drive and unwavering can-do mentality, Ford is now working to make this goal a reality.
Ford’s continued success across different playing fields comes from a zero tolerance towards negativity. Currently, Ford operates his own gym in Sutton Coldfield, UK. He can be seen next in Robin Hood: The Rebellion, which releases in November 2018. Keep an eye out for his MMA debut!
