Slovakian MMA legend Ivan Buchinger will bid to continue his undefeated run on home soil when he takes on rising German star Hafeni Nafuka in the main event of Oktagon 63 on Saturday night.
The fighters took to the scale at the official weigh-ins, with Buchinger tipping the scale at 72.8kg for his 73kg catchweight bout with Nafuka, who weighed in at 72.9kg.
The matchup will top a card that hosts a number of special catchweight matchups, with the co-main event pitting a pair of welterweight title challengers head to head in an 80kg catchweight contest, as Hungary’s Mate “Cold Blooded” Kertesz takes on Brazil’s Leandro “Apollo” Silva. Both men hit the catchweight limit on the nose to ensure their bout goes ahead with no problems.
England’s Ammari Diedrick is also set for action, with the Derby welterweight returning to the Oktagon cage to take on Robert Pukac in a 79.5kg catchweight bout, while the main card kicks off with a huge bout at flyweight, as two-time title challenger Aaron Aby takes on promotional newcomer and former UFC flyweight Zhalgas Zhumagulov.
Initially, two fighters missed their contracted weights, with Kevin Enz and Damien Lapilus coming in over their respective limits. Enz returned to the scale to make weight, but Lapilus did not, though his bout looks set to continue, as planned.
