The biggest star in Oktagon MMA history is back for a little bit more as he returns from retirement to settle the score with two of his biggest rivals.
Karlos Vemola had seemingly brought the curtain down on his MMA career earlier this summer. But just two months on from his victory over longtime rival Attila Vegh at Oktagon 58 at Eden Stadium, Prague, the man known to his legion of fans as “The Terminator” has decided that there is still some unfinished business to settle.
Vemola has signed a two-fight deal with Oktagon MMA, with two huge rematches already booked. The first bout of his farewell tour will see him take on Samuel Kristofic in a rematch of their meeting at Oktagon 51.
That bout saw Vemola viciously and shockingly knocked out as a huge punch from “Pirat” put Vemola out cold in just 108 seconds for one of the biggest knockouts of 2023. But now Vemola, who remains Oktagon’s light heavyweight champion, will look to exact revenge as he faces Kristofic for the second time at Oktagon 63 in Bratislava on November 9.
The second fight is the bout that many fans across Czechia and Slovakia will be itching to see, with Vemola facing old foe Vegh in a trilogy fight, with the score currently one win apiece after their first two meetings.
Vegh defeated Vemola by TKO in the first round of their first meeting at Oktagon 15 back in 2019, but “Terminator” got his revenge nearly five years later at Oktagon 58 as he submitted Vegh via second-round arm-triangle choke. Now the pair look set to face off for a third and final time, and the bout will be announced for a 2025 Oktagon MMA event in due course.
“To be honest, I was absolutely not thinking that a trilogy would be possible before their second fight,” said Oktagon MMA co-founder Pavol Neruda.
“I thought they were heading towards the end of their careers, and I thought that Attila would win, if I am honest! But the fight showed just what high level fighters these two still are
“Karlos Vemola is the first Czech fighter to make it to the UFC, and Attila Vegh is the first Slovak fighter to win a Bellator world title. These are massive superstar celebrities, who can’t walk down the street without fans mobbing them.
“Immediately after the second fight, Attilah wanted to make the trilogy – he was happy with how he performed, there were no excuses, but both fighters want to settle the score, and leave with eternal glory.
“Two massive legends will collide in this trilogy, and I think it’s something that the whole world should watch.”
