The world title fight at the top of the card at ONE 168 is official after ONE bantamweight Muay Thai world champion Jonathan Hagerty and kickboxing champion Superlek both made weight and hydration for their title clash in Denver, Colorado this weekend.
Both men came in under the 145-pound limit, and hit the required hydration levels, in order to make their title bout official, with England’s Haggerty putting his Muay Thai title on the line against fellow world champion striker Superlek in an eagerly-anticipated matchup.
The co-main event will also see an elite English striker in action, as Muay Thai legend Liam Harrison faces off against fellow veteran star Seksan in a 140-pound superfight. Again, both men made weight and hydration for their matchup.
Returning former two-division ONE MMA champion Aung La N Sang will take on Shamil Erdogan on the card, but after both were unable to pass their weight and hydration tests in the allotted time, their matchup was changed to a catchweight matchup. “The Burmese Python” tipped the scale at 210 pounds, but Erdogan missed weight, coming in at 213.75 pounds.
A planned ONE flyweight submission grappling matchup between Mikey Musumeci and Bebeto Oliveira took a hit after champion Musumeci failed to make weight and hydration. It meant that “Darth Rigatoni” was stripped of his title. The matchup may still remain on the card, with the latest update from the promotion stating that an openweight matchup between the pair was still being negotiated.
