The press tour for the Mayweather vs. McGregor fight has opened a lot of eyes.
Just after the last press stop in London, the odds against McGregor were slashed in half.
Though McGregor may still be the underdog, his confidence, wit and overall swagger has turned many naysayers into believers.
A number of people now think that he has a very real chance of beating the Mayweather.
Boxers Back Mayweather
But boxers stick with their own and two of the biggest names in the boxing world are backing Mayweather in the matchup.
Pacquiao in Mayweather’s Corner
In a statement that came as a surprise, Manny Pacquiao – one of the last boxer two boxers to face Mayweather in the ring – said that “it’s a boxing fight and I am going with the boxer”.
Pacquiao-Mayweather fight was the richest in history earning about $400 million in revenue. ‘The Money Fight’ is expected to surpass it by a wide margin.
It seems that Pacquiao may be in his former rivals corner come Aug 26.
Billy Saunders has an opinion
Billy Saunders, the current WBO middleweight champion, has also made his opinion public.
He believes that its “ludicrous” to think that McGregor could beat Mayweather in a boxing fight.
“He won’t even be able to lay a glove on him, unless it’s rigged” he went to say.
So according to Billy Joe Saunders, the only way McGregor could win would be if Mayweather lets him win.
Billy Joe Saunders has a 24-0 record and he believes that Floyd Mayweather’s 49-0 legacy means too much for him and there is no chance of the fight being rigged.
It is natural for the boxing world to stick with Mayweather in this fight.
But the fact that he hasn’t stepped into a ring in about 2 years and the aggressive nature and skills of McGregor will make the fight more evenly matched than most people believe.
