The stars of the PFL’s heavyweight and women’s flyweight global season are all set to face off at the Nashville Municipal Auditorium, and head of fight night, the fighters stepped on the scale to make their matchups official.
The main event will see heavyweights Denis Goltsov and Tim Johnson face off for a place in the $1 million heavyweight final, and Goltsoc tipped the scale at 247.6 pounds, while Johnson came in just 0.2 pounds under the heavyweight limit, at 265.8.
The co-main event features women’s flyweight action, as PFL Europe women’s flyweight champion Dakota Ditcheva takes on Jena Bishop for a spot in the 125-pound finale, and both women arrived on the scale at 125.2 pounds.
The night’s other heavyweight semi-final saw Oleg Popov and Linton Vassell separated by less than one pound, with Popov coming in at 247.2 pounds compared to Vassell’s 248 pounds.
There was one major weight miss in the playoff lineup, as Bellator flyweight champion Liz Carmouche came in one pound over the flyweight limit, at 127 pounds, for her bout against Brazilian contender Taila Santos (125.8). It meant that Carmouche will forfeit 20 percent of her purse and will have one point deducted from her scorecard, with the deduction only applying for the PFL’s competition, and will not come into effect for the official record of the fighters involved.
Carmouche was one of four fighters to miss weight during the session, with lightweight Sergio Cossio (162.8), plus welterweights Jaleel Willis (172.6) and Anthony Ivy (172.8) also missing their contracted marks. Cossio will forfeit 20 percent of his purse to his opponent, but as Willis and Ivy are scheduled to face each other, no deductions will be made. In both cases, their scheduled bouts will continue as catchweight bouts.
