This week’s episode of The RDX Podcast with Simon Head is a bumper two-hour special as Simon checks in from Manchester, England, where UFC 304 is set to take place from the new Co-op Live arena.
Headlining the event is a battle for the undisputed UFC welterweight title, as defending champion – and RDX Sports ambassador – Leon Edwards puts his title on the line against old adversary Belal “Remember The Name” Muhammad in a rematch three years in the making.
The co-main event also features world title action, as England’s interim UFC heavyweight champion Tom Aspinall puts his belt on the line against longtime contender, and first-time title challenger, Curtis Blaydes, in a rematch of their first bout, which ended abruptly after just 15 seconds with Aspinall blew out his knee. The pair will now meet in the rematch, with interim UFC gold on the line.
The main card will see plenty of UK interest, as former Cage Warriors star Paddy Pimblett takes on UFC fan-favourite King Green in a lightweight matchup that should deliver fireworks aplenty. And there have already been fireworks here in Manchester between rival flyweights Muhammad Mokaev and Manel Kape, who will settle their long-running feud inside the Octagon on Saturday night’s early prelims.
On this week’s episode of the pod, Simon reports from Manchester to recap a busy media day, and shares the thoughts of the six key men at the top of the card as they opened up ahead of their respective fights this weekend.
