Undefeated Bahraini superstar Rasul Magomedov made a big statement o the rest of the BRAVE CF light heavyweight division when he secured a first-round victory over Brazilian veteran Pablo Benaion. at BRAVE CF 87 in Alkmaar, Netherlands.
Rasul produced a dominant performance as he connected with big strikes before landing a takedown and punishing Benaion with vicious ground strikes to force the first-round stoppage.
The victory added another win to his unblemished pro record, but the manner of it put the rest of the 205-pound division on notice as a new championship contender emerged in Alkmaar.
Magomedov, who was a top-ranked heavyweight in the amateur circuit with several IMMAF medals, has been unstoppable since transitioning to the professional MMA circuit.
He made his professional debut at BRAVE CF 72 at light heavyweight, where he defeated Mohamed Hisham Baraka, followed by another first-round victory over Mohamed Laid in the division at BRAVE CF 79.
With his recent first-round win over Pablo Benaion, Magomedov improved his professional record to 6-0 and solidified his position as a top contender in a light heavyweight division that will crown a new champion at BRAVE CF 88 in Slovenia, where Erko Jun will face Alexander Wesner in the main event for the title.
While everyone is taking notice, BRAVE Combat Federation president Mohammed Shahid has also acknowledged the rise of Magomedov and tagged him as one of the best light heavyweight fighters out there.
“Rasul Magomedov has proved to be one of the best light heavyweights in the world with that performance,” said Shahid.
“He’s a wrestling and combat sambo monster, an IMMAF heavyweight world champion and now undefeated as a professional at 205. He’s the present AND the future of the division.”
Having finished all his professional fights so far, Magomedov is indeed a fighter to watch out and with the upcoming championship bout at BRAVE CF 88, the light heavyweight division is set for exciting times, with Magomedov, former title challenger Mohamed Said Maalem, and former champion Mohammed Fakhreddine all in contention, even though the Bahraini rising star might just have jumped the line.
