“Reug Reug” Oumar Kane is already busy preparing to shock the world in his challenge of three-weight ONE MMA heavyweight world champion Anatoly Malykhin’s heavyweight crown this November at ONE 169: Atlanta. But he’s decided to silence one more rival before doing so.
The Senegalese star will meet his outspoken compatriot Boucher Ketchup in a heavyweight kickboxing tussle this Saturday, July 6, inside Bangkok, Thailand’s Lumpinee Stadium at ONE Fight Night 23: Ok vs. Rasulov.
Having endured multiple callouts from the ONE newcomer, Kane expects a raucous affair. He knows Ketchup is as dangerous as he is big, so he wants to demolish him and make a huge point that any opponent looking to face him should be careful what they wish for.
“He will bring the fight. There are 18 million people waiting to see if he can step up to me. They are saying it’s ‘the Buster Douglas moment’ in Africa, but I will destroy this guy the same way I destroyed Marcus (Buchecha Almeida),” Kane said.
“My big fight is for the world title, but I wanted to hear the roar of the crowd, so this was the best option. I have to destroy this guy.”
Preparations are well underway for “Reug Reug’s” ONE heavyweight MMA world title tilt against Malykhin on Saturday, November 9, but he’s putting all of it to the side briefly to focus solely on Ketchup.
The 34-year-old plans to use the momentum he gains from his match at ONE Friday Fights 23 to power him all the way to Atlanta. Once there, he wants to show the world that no one comes close to his level of talent.
“My advantage is being the greatest,” Kane said.
“I’m the greatest heavyweight in ONE history – and I’m two fights away from proving it.”
