ONE Friday Fights 81 is set to be the next major card in the weekly martial arts series, and ONE Championship announced a huge bout for it this past Wednesday.
Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand, will play host when Japanese striking superstar Takeru Segawa returns to the world’s largest martial arts organization on Friday, 27th September, to collide with Thai phenom Black Panther in an enthralling flyweight kickboxing clash.
It will be Takeru’s second outing in ONE. He debuted at ONE 165 this past January in Tokyo, challenging ONE flyweight kickboxing world champion Superlek Kiatmoo9 for his divisional crown.
The striking pair went all five rounds and treated fans to a memorable contest. But in the end, “The Kicking Machine” retained the world title via unanimous decision.
Takeru has long been touted as one of the world’s best kickboxers, and he’ll be looking to remind the world of how dominant he can be when he steps back onto ONE’s stage. The multi-time K-1 world champion will undoubtedly have his work cut out for him at ONE Friday Fight 81, though.
Black Panther is currently enjoying a three-fight winning streak, with his most recent outing, a knockout victory against Ali Saldoev at ONE Fight Night 23, standing as his best performance yet.
Representing a gym of monsters in Team Mehdi Zatout, the Thai striking star should be well prepared for Takeru’s legendary repertoire come September, and he’ll pick up the biggest scalp of his career with another win.
The fourth quarter of 2024 is looking explosive for ONE Championship, with a slew of exciting events scheduled, including ONE Friday Fights 81 and two shows in the U.S. – ONE 168: Denver on Saturday, 8th September, and ONE 169: Atlanta on Saturday, 9th November.
