Strawweight striker Danial Williams loves nothing more than to stand in the middle of the ring and test his opponent’s will, and he plans on fighting fire with fire against Thongpoon PK Saenchai next week.
“Mini T” goes to war with the Thai star in strawweight Muay Thai at ONE Fight Night 26: Lee vs. Rasulov on Saturday, December 7, inside Bangkok, Thailand’s Lumpinee Stadium.
Having developed a reputation as a must-see fighter, Williams admires any adversary that meets the same criteria, and he feels he and Thongpoon are set for a banger in the Thai capital.
“I’m a fan of [Thongpoon]. I like his style. I think we’ll make a good fight because we’re both risk-takers. So it’s going to be a lot of entertainment for this fight,” Williams said.
“When he does throw, he takes quite a few risks with some big, big punching strikes. So he’s got some advantage there if we go into a dogfight. It becomes a 50-50, you know, first person to land.”
Despite enjoying the surge of adrenaline once the bell rings, Williams isn’t looking to draw out the contest across the three rounds it’s scheduled for.
The Thai-Aussie athlete envisions scoring an emphatic knockout early on and getting out as unscathed as he can.
That said, once the first blows are traded and the blood begins to run, he knows it’ll be difficult to resist throwing bombs.
“The ideal way would be finishing him in the first round. I don’t want to take too much damage, but I know my style,” Williams said.
“I do want to stand in the middle, and I feel that’s how I’ve trained so, yeah, I just want to get it done as quick as possible. If I can get it done in the first 10 seconds, that’ll be awesome.”
