And for those who doubted Amir Khan’s ability to keep reigning the top league of pro boxers, think again. The former light-welterweight champion took less than 39 seconds to knock down his Canadian rival, Phil Lo Greco in what seemed to be a whirlwind of jabs on Saturday night at Liverpool’s Echo Arena.

The Bolton boxer did not make any ring appearance since past 23 months following his loss to Saul Alvarez in Las Vegas. However, his latest stormy brawl saw him in his best making a stalwart ring return. Critics were doubtful as the home boxer managed a house-sold for his undercard event scrutinizing Amir’s performance. The dreaded questions about the King’s ability to outperform his rival despite changing trainers in the camp, an offending defeat and the probable ring rust were getting loud as the brawl neared.

However, Khan’s killer speed boxing against an overmatch rival was deafening enough to mute his sceptics’ baseless concerns. The King’s electric jabs helped him nail his first KO in past six years.

The Game Play

The ring embraced a bent on victory Khan, dodging a lame attempt extended by the Italian Sensation, which triggered his bottled up aggression into a boxing masterpiece. The Briton started firing his non-stop jabs with a decisive right hand that forced Lo Greco flying to the canvas at 00:15. The Canadian, though disorientated by the suddenness of the event, was back on his feet. However, despite being on his guard, Lo Greco couldn’t keep up against the thundering jabs from the home boxer. Just a few seconds after the away fighter’s first drop, Khan’s dangerous left uppercut and right cross forced the Italian Sensation struggling at the ropes and down the canvas. An ecstatic crowd saw a triumphant savage winner in a super-welterweight affair just within a minute since the brawl started.
