Windsor Park in Belfast would open its doors to an attendance of 25000 boxing enthusiasts this Saturday (August 18) to witness the reigning WBO featherweight champion Carl Frampton take on Luke Jackson in an attempt to defend his accolade, which he won after dispatching a defeat to Nonito Donaire in April this year.

While the Irish boxer is living his dream of competing at his home turf, he considers the fight an opportunity to prove his mettle by making headlines with an upped performance. The fight would mark his 27th appearance inside the ring out of which the Jackal has amassed 25 wins. With 14 KOs under his belt, the 31-year-old boxer is looking to avenge his only defeat by dispatching a killer knockout to his counterpart rival. His solo defeat comes against Leo Santa Cruz, an opponent that he had conveniently defeated earlier for WBA Super World Featherweight Title.
After facing disgrace and pride in WBA title fights, the Jackal went on to mark “L” on Horacio Garcia and Nonito Donaire’s resumes, owing to his relentless efforts and practicing under new promoter Frank Warren.
While speaking to the media about his upcoming fight this is what the Irish boxer had to say,
“Of course I want to look good, I want to look impressive, but the main thing is that I win. I believe I’ve got the ability to look very good. I can take out any featherweight if I hit them clean and that includes all the top names. I know my recent run of results of going to points haven’t suggested that but, believe you me, I can punch. It could be over in a round but I’m prepared to go for 12 rounds. I’ve got the pop to take him out in the first round and that could be it. That’s not disrespectful to him that goes for any featherweight in the world.”
Luke Jackson, on the other hand, would be entering the ring with a clean record of 16 wins. The Action managed to put an end to 7 opponents’ inside-the-distance. The Aussie has a height and reach advantage over his opponent.
