The passing of the baton has taken a while but Barry McGuigan has finally found someone to replace him 25 years on in Carl Frampton. McGuigan’s son Shane trains Frampton and Barry himself is his manager and has guided his career since the very beginning. This made his title win on Saturday night that extra bit more special for him.

Next Saturday night in Manchester, Scott Quigg will be taking on Stephane Jamoye at the Phones 4u Arena for the WBA World Super Bantamweight title. Should Quigg go on to win, it looks like an all British fight between Frampton and Quigg could be on the cards after Frampton said he will be looking to get a fight lined up either against him or Leo Santa Cruz next.

Carl Frampton was in very impressive form at the weekend in his victory over Martinez, taking the fight to the brawling Mexican. He controlled the fight from start to finish and knocked the Mexican down half way through with a fast right hand that landed flush on the jaw. To Martinez’s credit he got back up quickly but never really troubled Frampton at any point. In the last couple of rounds when it was clear he needed a KO to win he started coming forward much more and swinging wildly but Frampton just picked him off and cruised to his maiden world title.

So if Scott Quigg wins next weekend, who would you fancy to win between Quigg and Frampton?
