The list of foods that anyone seeking weight loss should avoid is a very long one. You can go online and learn about all the fried, sugary and baked foods that you shouldn’t be eating. But no one really talks about some healthy foods to avoid when you are looking to lose weight. This is where you can get yourself into trouble.

Healthy Foods to Avoid

Imagine this; you follow all the advice and information about weight loss and add ‘healthy’ foods to your diet but even after weeks, your weight remains the same. The reason being that your diet isn’t designed for weight loss.

To make it so, check the list of healthy foods to avoid for weight loss given below.

1.      Flavored Yogurt

Flavored yogurt is very popular among people seeking fitness and healthy diets. The reason being that it provides protein and has fewer carbs than ice cream. Here is the reality; the toppings and the flavor added to plain yogurt, or Greek yogurt for that matter, makes it just as bad as any other sweet dessert. So this healthy food is exactly the opposite of what you need in your weight loss diet.

If you can’t have yogurt without the tasty sugar, then you can try adding fruits. They will add the much-needed flavor to the plain yogurt and help you avoid all the unnecessary sugar and carbohydrates.

2.      Fiber or Protein Bars

There is a very big misconception about protein bars. People who want to lose weight consider it to be a healthy alternative snack, in fact, it is quite the opposite.

Yes, they have fiber and proteins but they also have sugar and carbs that are not going to help you with the weight loss. So take these bars out of your diet plan and try these low-calorie snacks instead.

3.      Fresh Juices

Fruit and vegetable juices are a favorite among people looking to shed some extra pounds. They believe that they are getting necessary nutrients from the juice, which is false.

Juices have some of the nutrients of the fruit or vegetable, but they lack fiber and protein that your body needs. A better alternative is to consume vegetables and fruits in their natural state. But if you must have a drink then go for smoothies.

Smoothies contain everything that is lacking in juices. Try not to add any cream or sugar to the smoothie.

4.      Wheat Bread

Pay attention when you are buying bread. Stay very far away from white bread and be very careful about buying wheat bread. Because you are looking for whole wheat bread, not just wheat bread.

Read the ingredients on the pack when you are purchasing bread. If the tag says 100{317a7769e272dec17b69bda26c6a5a4c5e6799efcd8a85f72cb552b76862c2b9} whole wheat, then you are good to go.

Bread that just says wheat on it doesn’t have fiber or protein in it.

5.      Caesar Salad

For weight loss, salads are the go to food. Except for Caesar salad.

People make generalizations when they are eating this particular salad because it is, in fact, a salad. But they need to look at the ingredients more closely; cream, cheese, and croutons are part of the salad.

All of them have calories plus high-fat content.

A good alternative would be to make a simple salad at home. Add lots of green leafy vegetables, tomatoes, cucumbers, olive oil, etc. for a fulfilling meal.

6.      Low Fat Foods

Myth; you need to cut out all fats from your diet in order to lose weight.

Fact; you need healthy fat in your diet, to keep your body fueled properly and avoid hunger pangs.

Healthy fats include Omega-3 fats (found in wild salmon), monounsaturated fats (found in avocado) and polyunsaturated fats (found in walnuts). These fats are crucial for your heart’s health.

Fats that you need to stay away from is Trans fats. They can clog your arteries and cause all sorts of heart diseases.

7.      Dried Fruit

Fruits are your friend. Doesn’t matter if you are trying to lose weight or not.

Dried fruits, on the other hand, are like eating candy. They have high sugar content and they are eaten in a higher quantity than normal fruits because there is no water content to fill the stomach.

Processed dried fruits are worst as they have added sugar on top of the natural one.

Your weight loss plan has to be very precise and it needs to contain all the real healthy foods that aid you in it and not derail it. By cutting out the foods mentioned above, you can ensure that you are not eating unnecessary calories or sugars.

Aside from this, you have to continue your exercise routine and set your fitness goals to lose weight effectively.
