Sage Northcutt underwent nine hours of surgery after suffering eight fractures during his ONE Championship debut in Singapore on Friday. To say that Northcutt had a rough One Championship debut would be an understatement.

Cosmo Alexandre knocked Northcutt out in just 29 seconds at One “Enter the Dragon”. He had to spend nine hours in surgery to repair “eight fractures.” Through it all, “Super” Sage maintained a sense of humor.

With an 11-3 career mark, Northcutt entered this bout with a three fight winning streak whereas Alexandre, the former Bellator competitor has won eight consecutive bouts.

The 23-year old former UFC star was a big signing for the promotion but his first fight did not go to plan. Kickboxing world-champion Cosmo Alexandre secured the knockout in just 29 seconds.

Northcutt was sent crashing to the floor after being caught with a huge overhand right. He has told fans that the strike did more damage to his face than initially thought.

He took to Instagram to share a picture of himself in his hospital bed and he wrote alongside the image,

‘Fresh out of surgery, ‘I had eight fractures and a nine hour intense operation.

‘Feeling blessed for the amazing care and all the support from my family, friends and fans! My Terminator face is not too Shabby. ‘I’ll be back!’ Next post is catheter removal… stay tuned.’

Sage Northcutt was a product of Dana White’s talent hunting show ‘Looking for a Fight’. He was one the brightest young stars during his early days in the UFC.

He couldn’t quite materialize his chance in the UFC as he won six and lost two of his eight fights in the promotion.

Despite a three-fight win streak, the UFC opted not to give him new contract last year with the growing Singapore-based ONE picking him up.

White said after letting him go,

‘Sage is young and Sage needs some work, let him get some work in some other organizations, and we will see where this kid ends up in a couple of years. Maybe we will pick him back up again.’
