A fight long time in the making is finally on the card for UFC Fight Night Shanghai; MMA legend Anderson Silva is set to take on Kelvin Gastelum in the main event on Nov 25.

The 42-year-old Anderson ‘The Spider’ Silva (17-4) was last seen inside a UFC octagon at UFC 208 in February. He came out on top against Derek Brunson.

Kelvin Gastelum (14-3) is coming off a brutal loss to Chris Weidman in UFC Fight Night in July.

The Silva vs. Gastelum fight was slated for UFC 212. Gastelum had to pull out because he tested positive for Marijuana. The fighters couldn’t make the fight happen after that until it was finally put down as the main event for the UFC debut in China.

Anderson Silva returning to the Octagon

For true MMA fans, ‘The Spider’ is an icon. They believe that he still has fight left in him. He has suffered some tough string of losses of late; he lost two title fights to Chris Weidman. His fans want him to reach the pinnacle and find the championship form once again.

He did win an exciting victory over Nick Diaz at UFC 183. But that was overturned because both fighters failed their post-fight drug tests.

The Opponent

Gastelum is a gifted fighter in his own right and he is only 25 years old. He does give away the advantage to Silva in height and reach. Kelvin has also had impressive victories over Tim Kennedy and Johny Hendricks in 2016 but he hasn’t had the best start to 2017. He is hoping to turn his year around.

Both fighters will enter the octagon in Shanghai’s Mercedes-Benz Arena hoping to prove something to the fans and the UFC.

Silva is popularly known as the best fighter to grace the UFC and it will be good to see how much he has left in the tank.

Will Silva be too much for Gastelum? Or will Gastelum’s youth be the deciding factor?
