Adonis Stevenson (29-1) will be defending his heavyweight title against two-division champion Badou Jack (22-1-2) from Air Canada Centre in Toronto.
The brawl between two competitors will be well-contended for as two-division Swedish champ is willing to take on the best knockout artist in the sport. 40-year-old Canadian is known for his exceptionally hard left hand and would be entering the bout as a pro with 16 straight wins. He has successfully defended his title 8 times in past 5 years by displaying ferocious knockouts with his dominant hand. However, the Canadian’s opponents have not always been the front-line boxers and Jack’s going to be quite some challenge for the “Superman.” Facing off Stevenson is 34-year-old Swedish who is looking to become a three-time champion on his rival’s home ground.
Stevenson managed to trounce Tony Bellew with a KO in 6th round in his first defence of his title. Jack and Bellew are of the same class; however, the latter can stand more pressure. But it is yet to be seen whether the Swedish can handle Stevenson’s hard hitting as “The Ripper” has previously been knocked out by Derek Edwards in 1st round in early 2014.
After suffering a brutal KO from journeyman Edwards, Jack has proved his mettle in 6 fights out of 7. The only taint in his winning streak was a 12-round draw in his fight against Lucian Bute in April 2016, which was later declared as a disqualification for Bute as his blood tested positive for Ostarine.
Despite his 40 years of age, Adonis always executes a ring strategy that highlights his positive aspects. With his killer punches and a pro experience, he would prove to be lethal for Jack. However, Jack has his age advantage with rugged fighting skills. If he manages to evade the Canadians shrewd strategy and devastating blows, the challenger has pretty good chances of winning the battle.
