On October 6, MMA fans worldwide will witness hell break lose when two powerhouses of the sport will collide. Former lightweight and featherweight artist would be taking on current lightweight champion and Combat Sambo World Champion Khabib Nurmagomedov in a festival of fire.
What the outcome of the fight would be is difficult to say at the moment. McGregor’s future post fight is going to bright or not is even more difficult to predict.
While discussing the Irishman’s future, this is what Conor’s coach Owen Roddy had to say on Eurobash podcast about his retirement,
“I don’t know…I don’t think [he will retire]. I don’t look into the future to see what’s happening. Conor’s mentality hasn’t changed at all, so I don’t know.”
Owen went on to add that future of McGregor depended on the type of fights available for him.
“I always say, it depends on what fights are available, I think, for Conor. As I said, if there is another big super fight and Conor feels like he would enjoy it, then he’ll do it. If the fans want it and stuff like that, I think Conor will take it.”
He further added,
“You never know, who knows? We’re just going to focus on the task at hand now. This is potentially the biggest fight ever. We’ll go in and do that and then he’ll probably be on to the next biggest fight ever.”
It really depends on the outcome of fight to see what would McGregor’s next course of action would be. Perhaps he would consider taking on Nate Diaz next in an attempt to settle previous business. Another significant prospect of UFC, welterweight and middleweight champion Georges St-Pierre would prove a good challenge for McGregor. St-Pierre has been talking about venturing into third weight division, in which Conor would be fighting Nurmagomedov in the upcoming UFC 229.
