We at RDX Sports took a deep dive into MMA’s undefeated Champion Khabib Nurmagomedov’s life out of the octagon. Lets learn more about his diet and workout plan, which he still strictly follows even after his retirement from MMA in the year 2021.  

Khabib Nurmagomedov Diet Plan

Khabib “The Eagle” Nurmagomedov is a former mixed martial artist with a record of zero losses in his entire career. He made his name reckon well in the history of MMA as he has been an undefeated UFC Lightweight Champion for three years. His interest in MMA and overall fitness developed soon after he watched athletes from different combat sports train at the gym set up by his father. 

Khabib’s diet plan includes five meals per day. The major portion of his diet includes proteins, carbohydrates and some healthy fats.  

Meal 1 – Breakfast 

The Eagle starts off his day with a smoothie made of vegetable leaves, grass fed whey, one banana, pea protein powder or brown rice with some ice and water. 

Meal 2 – Post Workout Snack 

Khabib takes one cup of yoghurt, half cup of blueberries and some crushed walnuts.

Meal 3 – Lunch

A green salad which includes portions of cabbage, mushrooms, tomatoes, spinach, cucumbers and baby romaine. 

Meal 4 – Evening Snack

He eats 3 boiled eggs with 1 yolk and 2 red peppers with a cucumber. 

Meal 5 – Dinner 

For dinner Khabib eats a quarter ounce turkey or chicken (grilled or slow cooked), half cup of black beans with small amounts of sodium and lastly some asparagus. 

Eagle’s Cheat Diet 

Like every other human, Khabib also has a cheat diet. To cater to his cravings, he enjoys indulging in fast food especially burgers or pizzas. 

Khabib’s Supplements 

Khabib believes in the principle of “Eat like the Eagle, Fight like an Eagle” therefore he prefers eating a clean diet alongside necessary supplementation such as fish oil, pea protein, Himalayan pink salt and whey protein. he also loves consuming fruits and fresh juices.

Khabib Nurmagomedov Workout Routine

Khabib’s workout plan consists of a variety of different exercises and techniques. The plan helps him enhance his overall athleticism and enables him to be the legend he is today. Let’s take a look at his workout activities: 

Morning Routine

Khabib starts off with a 90 minutes cardio in the morning. He runs daily at the time of sunrise. 

Afternoon Routine

In the afternoon, Khabib focuses on his martial arts training. He trains with his fellow peers and coaches at the gym.  

Evening Routine

His evenings encompass grappling and sparring sessions. He also took Islam Makhachev, the No.4 lightweight of the world, under his wings. 

Nurmagomedov always makes sure that he is not carrying any extra water weight. To sweat it out, he takes the Russian sauna once a week with his friends.

Since, Nurmagomedov prefers following a low-tech workout regime, his exercises are quite basic and conventional. Let’s discuss these exercises in some detail.

Basic Exercises

Khabib’s low tech workout includes exercises such as lifting rocks, calisthenics, running and shadow boxing. 

Triple Threat

Khabib starts off with running in the morning and then performs his sparring sessions after lunch. He switches between his sparring and grappling sessions in the evening.

Upper Body Workout

Nurmagomedov performs different upper body exercises to enhance his muscle strength. Some of these exercises include push-ups with shoulder taps, high planks, crunches and narrow pushups.
