Former light heavyweight champion Phil Davis is set to return to the cage at Bellator 231, confirmed by Bellator official.

A light heavyweight bout between Phil Davis (20-5 MMA, 7-2 BMMA) and Karl Albrektsson (9-2 MMA, 0-0 BMMA) will take place as the co-main event of the card on Oct. 25 at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn.

Davis, 35, most recent win was at Bellator 220 in April when he defeated ex-champ Liam McGeary by via third-round TKO.

The win put Davis back on the right foot after a shaky stretch in the Bellator cage. Prior to McGeary, he suffered a loss to Vadim Nemkov, delaying his goal of a rematch against current two-division champ Ryan Bader, who took his title in June 2017.

Albrektsson, 26, makes his promotional debut with Bellator after competing five times under the Rizin FF banner in Japan over the last three years. The Pancrase Gym Sweden representative is currently riding a three-fight winning streak.

Bellator 231 is headlined by a heavyweight rematch between Frank Mir and Roy Nelson.
