Just a day ago, boxing and MMA fans were euphoric to hear about news of Floyd Mayweather responding to UFC’s undefeated lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov. And that too on a positive note.
Now, Khabib has gone one step further in calling out for Mike Tyson to train him so that he could seal a win against Floyd Mayweather.
The Russian star challenged the boxing’s unbeaten after submitting a humiliating defeat to his opponent Conor McGregor in UFC 229.
‘Money’ Mayweather responded promptly to Dagestan native’s callout. The only fight up his sleeve is an encounter against Manny Pacquiao next year.
Meanwhile, Team Khabib is eagerly calling out for Mike Tyson and Vasyl Lomachenko; two powerhouses of boxing realm to train him against the lethal Mayweather.
While talking to TASS, the Russian star’s father Abdulmanap said,
“Khabib will have a chances according to the rules of boxing, he will have a more chances than McGregor. Khabib will go in the clinch close up. I would like the best specialist in the world of boxing Anatoly Lomachenko and Mike Tyson to be in our corner.”
Right after re-asserting his position as the undefeated champion, Khabib called out Floyd Mayweather to hold a match with him. In a video clip that was viral on social media Khabib was heard saying,
“Hey let’s go Floyd, we have to fight now. 50 and 0 verses 27 and 0, two guys that never lose, let’s go, why not. Because in the jungle only one king, only one king.”
In response, Mayweather was quick to respond back,
“CBS, Showtime and MGM Grand get the checkbook out!”
Mayweather last bout was against Conor McGregor, in which he submitted the latter with a 10th round KO defeat. However, Money issued a statement of coming out from retirement by squaring off with Manny Pacquiao. The fight was scheduled for this year, but it seems that the two would be squaring off in March.
If the fight between the two doesn’t materialize, Pacquiao would have the chance to come up against Adrian Broner in the start of coming year after signing a deal with advisor Al Haymon.
Right now, the reigning lightweight champion faces suspension from Nevada Athletic Commission following his post-fight brawl in UFC 229’s headliner event. Until the commission completes its investigation, Khabib has been suspended from UFC.
