Mikey Garcia is making his place in the elite company. He will fight Sergey Lipinets for his IBF light welterweight title on February 10, 2018. If he can pull this off, he will be only the third fighter to win titles at 4 different weight classes – 126, 130, 135, and 140 pounds – in the history of boxing. Garcia wanted a big challenge for his next fight. That was the reason why he chose Lipinets. The rugged Kazakh boxer will make it tough on the champion.
Garcia is 37-0, with 30 KOs under his belt.
He is stepping up to fight a bigger opponent. A cerebral fighter like Garcia will work tirelessly to adjust to his upcoming opponent.
Garcia is aiming to be a primetime success, like a Floyd Mayweather or a Gennady Golovkin. He has tremendous success inside the ring but he hasn’t been able to reach that level of commercial success yet.
For him to get to that mantle, he will have to make Feb 10 count. Winning this fourth title will give him the media and fan attention that he completely deserves.
