A mountain lion. attacked a Colorado runner. The runner was running all by himself when he heard something behind him. Turning around, he caught a mountain lion ready to attack. The man tried to scare the predator off but without luck. In the ensuing fight, the man choked the cougar to death. The runner suffered some serious injuries as well, but none were life-threatening.

The mountain lion was a juvenile, only 80 pounds, about half the size of a full-grown cougar.

The attack took place on the West Ridge Trail at Horsetooth Mountain Open Space near Fort Collins on Monday, the Colorado Parks and Wildlife agency said. The mountain lion was a juvenile, only 80 pounds, about half the size of a full-grown cougar.

The runner suffered from bite wounds on his face, back, arms, and legs. Following the attack, the runner visited the hospital to tend to his injuries. He left the hospital shortly after. As of this moment, the runner has yet to be identified.

Many speculated whether the runner was in fact a Brazilian Jujitsu artist. They also questioned the technique with which he may have strangled the cougar.

Joe Rogan, a color commentator for the UFC and host of “The Joe Rogan Experience” podcast, commented on the situation.

Rogan said he always runs with a hunting knife having lost a pet dog to a cougar attack.

Rogan wrote,

“This bad motherfucker got attacked from behind by a mountain lion while he was running and suffocated that cunt of a cat to death.
I personally carry a @halffaceblades SHPOS on me when I run, and people have joked that it’s silly and unnecessary. Most of the time they’re right. I lost a dog to one of those beautiful killing machines in Colorado, and I’m not taking any chances.

In more than 100 years, fewer than 20 people have been killed in North America by cougars. In fact, only three people have been killed and 16 injured in cougar attacks since 1990 in the state of Colorado.
