Paulie Malignaggi continued to ramp up tension between himself and Conor McGregor. Recently, Malignaggi stated that he would hospitalize and bankrupt the UFC star in a boxing match. Malignaggi has also challenged McGregor to a “winner-takes-all” boxing bout.

Unfortunately for Malignaggi, McGregor is not in a strong position to negotiate. The Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) has barred McGregor from fighting because of his involvement in the UFC 229 post-fight brawl with Khabib Nurmagomedov. The NSAC has set a hearing on McGregor’s case for January 29.

However, that hasn’t stopped Malignaggi from keeping McGregor under pressure.

Paulie Malignaggi and Conor McGregor have a long and volatile history. It all began when McGregor invited Malignaggi to train with him in preparation of his boxing match with Floyd Mayweather. The training relationship only lasted a matter of days. Leaked footage of the two sparring showed McGregor besting Malignaggi, knocking him to the mat with a punch.

The incident forced Paulie Malignaggi to leave camp and violate boxing’s unsaid secret by revealing McGregor’s biggest weakness. In recent weeks, Malignaggi has ramped up his anti-McGregor rhetoric.

He said,

“Conor knows that his time is coming to an end as he’s become the piñata of combat sports,”

Furthermore, Malignaggi added,

“There’s rumours of me and him negotiating [for a fight] but we were not negotiating, I don’t think there’s a more lucrative fight out there for Conor than me at this point.”

If for that matter if the fight between these rivals take place in future, Malignaggi vows to end McGregor’s legacy as a top fighter. The Irishman has already lost three out of his last five bouts and a loss to Malignaggi would extend that win-loss run to four defeats in six.

Malignaggi said;

“I will make sure his legacy is dead and buried as I know he has no legacy,he was not as good as people thought. It has now been proven. Legacy is made over longevity, and McGregor has no longevity. He’s the punching bag of combat sports. He’s a con artist.”
