Wladimir Klitschko took on Tyson Fury on November 28, Saturday, but failed to defend his titles successfully, making Fury the new champion.
On Saturday, November 28, one of the biggest and most awaited fights of the year took place in which the undefeated British heavyweight Tyson Fury snatched the WBA (Super), WBO, IBF and IBO titles from the renowned Ukrainian boxing star Wladimir Klitschko. The fight took place in Germany and Fury won by Unanimous Decision (115-112, 115-112, 116-111) after 12 long rounds.
Klitschko, after losing his titles, possesses a track record of 64-4 with 53 KOs while Fury, the new champion, remains unbeaten and holds a track record of 25-0 with 18 KOs. Before the fight, Fury looked quite aggressive and enthusiastic and warned Klitschko many times that he’ll win the titles. Fury said, “We’re heading for a new year, a new era and a new heavyweight champion.” That’s exactly what happened and now we’re really heading for a new year with a new heavyweight champion.
After the unbelievable victory, Fury said, “I was waiting for the result and I was a bit iffy because we all know what it is like in Germany and Klitschkos and the so called saga around it and I was waiting there and I just said, ‘Please don’t rob me here God.’ And he said ‘from the United Kingdom’ and I hit the floor completely. I had 16 people around me jumping up and down. Everyone was crying. It was just a very emotional time.” Klitschko said that he wants to have a rematch with Fury, after the unforeseen loss. It has not yet been decided whether it’s going to happen or not.
