Although, Stephen “Wonderboy” Thompson will still have to wait another month or two before hitting anything. But he has dodged surgery on his two broken hands when he defeated Vicente Luque at UFC 244.

Thompson revealed on Thursday, that it will take six to eight weeks for him to recover fully from the injury but the damage isn’t bad enough to call for a surgery.

“Hands are doing OK,” Thompson wrote. “Still hurting. but they’ll be all right,”

The former welterweight title contender ruled the ring from the very start at the Nov. 2 pay-per-view event. Although he displayed laser sharp accuracy, he did it at the expense of his hands. the fight ended with him taking home two scores of 30-26 with one tally of 29-27.

Post bout, both his hands swelled up, indicating severe injury. The injury was later verified as well and this week he has been given a rain check on surgery by a specialist. Thompson suffered two broken thumbs after a win over Jorge Masvidal back in 2017 as well.

As it stands today, Wonderboy will be ready to compete again by early 2020. He is still counted amongst the top-10 welterweight’s and ready to take on the world at the upcoming UFC gold.
