The ‘Fight of the Century’ between unbeaten US pugilist Floyd Mayweather Jr and the pound for pound king Manny Pacquiao is only a couple of days away from us now. The air has been taken over with news of the MayPac event, the hype of which is bringing in at least 3-4 million people on PPV. Around 16,500 people will watch the bout live at the MGM Grand Arena Las Vegas on May 2.

As the bout draws nearer, the eagerness of the fans increases. In the wait for this ultimate showdown, we are here with a list of interesting facts to quench your thirst:

  1. Over 5 years and 50 days have passed since the bout was initially planned on 13th March 2010. The earlier bout was cancelled due to conflicts over drug tests before the fight.
  2. In an interesting turn of events, for the first time, the weigh-in ceremony for the bout will be ticketed at $10 per person. According to law of the Nevada state, the weight in ceremony is always free for public but to avoid the thousands of people from crashing the event it was suggested to add a small $10 ticket for the bout. The money from the weigh-in ceremony will be given for charitable purposes.
  3. The fight will be available through a PPV system and will cost $90 for viewing in normal video quality. While it would cost $100 to watch the bout in high-definition. The previous PPV record stands at $75 and $65 for Mayweather’s bout against Alvarez.
  4. The bout is expected to be viewed by around 3-4 million viewers live through PPV.
  5. From a total of 16,500 seats available in the MGM grand arena, only 500 tickets will be available to the public.
  6. All the 500 tickets that were available for sale were sold out during the first 60 seconds.
  7. In resale, the ticket cost rose up to $100,000.

  11. Pacquiao has an age advantage over Mayweather. Pacquiao is 36 years old which means he is 1 year 9 months and 24 days younger than his American counterpart.
  12. Pacquiao’s promoter Bob Arum stated that the live gate for the Mayweather-Pacquiao fight will be around $72 million, breaking the previous record of $20 million for Mayweather-Alvarez fight in 2013.
  13. 50 Cent reportedly placed a bet of $1.6 million on Mayweather.
  14. The bout will get an estimated revenue of $400 million in total.
  15. Mayweather has an advantage of being undefeated in all the 47 professional bouts he has fought so far. Pacquiao on the other hand fought 64 professional bouts which include 57 victories and 5 losses.
